George Clooney is handsome, funny, and talented but he is not a big believer in celebrating Christmas. Last year George was quoted in US Magazine about his feeling on the Christmas season. He said, “I don’t do a big Christmas thing. I think Christmas, at some point, is for having a bunch of kids, so I just get through the Holidays.” With that attitude, it’s safe to assume he will not be sending Christmas cards this year. Another reason he probably will not be sending Christmas cards is that he isn’t married. It usually is a wife who will tend to that business. So George, if you are reading this I will gladly volunteer to be your wife. Then your card design can be featured on this Celebrity Christmas Cards website.

George spent Christmas of 2006 in Cabo San Lucas with no presents, no Christmas music, not even Holiday decorations! Instead he donated money to charity. According to World Entertainment News Network he explained, “I went down south with a couple of my friends because we said, ‘We’re sick of Christmas.’ Nobody put on Christmas songs and we didn’t celebrate at all. It was nice. Good fun, I recommend it! We had no gifts. We put up a website for all of our buddies and just said, ‘Everybody has everything they want, so what’s your favorite charity? We’ll donate to that.’ It’s a lot easier that way and then you don’t have to shop.”

In recent news, Ellen DeGeneres decided her New Year’s motto would be “George is Mine in ’09.” She worked very hard to get George Clooney on her show. She got help from Brad Pitt; who told Ellen via satellite to get a bunch of Chippendale dancers. Ellen promised, “We’re going to do it and we’re going to say it’s from you.” While Brad wasn’t much help, Noah Wyle advised her to invite former Cincinnati Reds, Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan, on the show. That was the trick that brought George to the Ellen, fulfilling her Christmas dreams.

In other TV news, George appeared on the series finale of ER. He left the show in 1999, and unlike David Caruso, George made it big but not too big to return to TV. During the show’s peak (in the 1995-96 season), ER was the most popular show on television and averaged 32 million viewers a week! With the finale of ER, Christmas cards from County General Hospital will not be a thing of the past.

I totally appreciate Clooney’s feelings on Christmas and his goal to “just get through the holidays.” Not that I’m a big Scrooge, but in recent years I’ve felt the same way. The way he and his friends celebrated Christmas was pretty cool, in my opinion – a vacation getaway and charitable donations instead of a gift exchange.

What a scrooge! Just because he doesn’t have a wife or kids doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t celebrate Christmas! The donating to charity is great but come on George – you have enough money to donate and provide Christmas gifts for friends and family! Either he’s just being cheap or maybe he has memories of loved ones that he no longer has and maybe the holidays are too hard to celebrate.. Well at some point I hope George gets into the spirit of Christmas again – or all those good looks will just go to waste because no woman wants to spend Christmas with a Grinch!
