Searching for Jon Bon Jovi’s Christmas Cards

Jon Bon Jovi's Christmas cards

Bon Jovi's first ever recorded song was on a Star Wars Christmas album. The sentiments of the song, entitled "R2D2 We Wish you a Merry Christmas," is echoed in this Bon Jovi Christmas card.

I am on the hunt for Jon Bon Jovi’s Christmas cards! I admit I am mildly obsessed with Jon Bon Jovi, though I’m sure the people who know me best would disagree with that statement. They would probably refer to me as more of a stalker. I don’t know why they would say that. I mean yes, I have been to more Bon Jovi concerts than I can remember (I stopped counting at 13) and yes, I do know a lot about the man and the band, but that’s just because I am well read and keep up to date on pop culture. I do know little known facts about the man; just a little trivia that the average person who is just a casual fan of his music might know. For instance, I know that Robert Hegyes, most known for his role as Epstein on the TV show Welcome Back Kotter, is his cousin and that Jon’s mother was a Playboy bunny. But I know nothing about how he spends his holidays or what kinds of Christmas cards he sends to family and friends.

So I searched the internet to try and find some reference…some tidbit on Jon Bon Jovi’s Christmas cards. Does he send them? Does he do a family portrait? Is it just the kids or are he and his wife Dorothea also featured on the cover? I’m dying to know but alas… nothing! Not surprising as Jon Bon Jovi is notoriously private about his personal life and has done what I think is a fantastic job of keeping his kids out of the public eye.

But still I thought I would find something! I mean I know he celebrates Christmas. One of his very first jobs was making Christmas decorations! He has recorded numerous Christmas songs. You can hear him on the radio each December singing “Please Come Home for Christmas” and “I Wish Every Day Could be Like Christmas.” Funny though, you never hear the 1980 song, “R2-D2 We Wish you a Merry Christmas,” which was featured on the Star Wars album, “Christmas in the Stars” by a then unknown John Francis Bongiovi (told you I knew some obscure Jovi trivia).

Jon has also consistently hosted or played at numerous Christmas benefit concerts over the years. Most of them he’s played in his home state of New Jersey, like last year’s Hope Concert IV, which benefited the Parker Family Health Center in Red Bank.

So you see, Jon has many ties to Christmas. I will continue my search for the elusive Bon Jovi family Christmas cards. Maybe some other Bon Jovi stalker, er, fan is selling one on eBay!
